Sun Valley Fibers is a family-owned fiber farm located in southwestern Wisconsin. The Sow’s Ear is proud to stock several varieties of Sun Valley Fibers yarn, including sock, dk, and worsted weights.
Sun Valley Fibers MCS (pictured) is a plied sock yarn comprised of 75% merino wool, 15% cashmere, and 10% silk. This fingering weight yarn knits up at 7-8 stitches per inch on size 1-3 needles. It has a lovely sheen and slight loft, creating good stitch definition. It is a luxurious yarn that is wonderful to knit with, making it perfect for special projects that require a special yarn.
Sun Valley MCN Worsted is a 4-ply blend of 80% merino wool, 1o% cashmere, and 10% nylon. It knits up at 4-5.5 stitches per inch on size 6-9 needles. This soft yarn features deep, rich colors that and the worsted weight knits up quickly.
The shop stocks a range of colors which have included Blueberry Crumble, Frosty Pine, Hi Sunshine, Jester (magenta), Lady in Red, Mochachino (tan), Peach Fuzz, Percy (olive), Peach Fuzz, Purple Passion, Strut (turquoies), Waterfalls (aqua) and Whimsy (yellow-green). Both yarns require hand washing and should be dried flat.
Sun Valley Fibers MCS is put up in 100 gram hanks that measure 400 yards.
Sun Valley Fibers MCN Worsted is put up in 100 gram hanks that measure 220 yards.
